ABOUT THE PROJECT

for

コーヒー

コーヒー, (read as kōhī), is the Japanese word for Coffee, as written in the katakana alphabet. In this project, I developed an identity a coffee shop brand, named コーヒー, animating the forms of the characters to become the pictorial logo for the shop. 

This project is the product of my love for the Japanese language, specifically visually. It explores the form of the typography, and how the forms of each letter can be seen as both descriptive and representative in a visual context. In this case, this means the letterforms transforming into a representation of a cup being filled with coffee.
