ABOUT THE PROJECT

コーヒー, (read as kōhī), is the Japanese word for Coffee, as written in the katakana alphabet. This project involved the development of an identity for a coffee shop brand, named コーヒー, animating the forms of the characters to become the pictorial logo for the shop.

This project explores the form of the typography within the Japanese language, and how the forms of each letter can be seen as both descriptive and representative in a visual context. In this case, this means the letterforms transforming into a representation of a cup being filled with coffee.
